Game of Thrones Location Tour
Rejoice pop culture nerds, because we are taking you for a ride through the Seven Kingdoms! This fantastic journey brings alive some of the best scenes on the show through the incredible locations that are included in the tour, as listed below.
Titanic Studio's: Home to Season 1 and one of the world’s largest ‘stage sets’ used in the creation of Game of Thrones. Did we say that it also houses the Iron Throne? Did we also hear a small squeal of joy?
Cushendun Caves: The incredibly rugged yet dark and eerie caves was the spot where Melisandre gave birth to the shadow assassin in Season 3.
Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge: The site was used for some of the scenes depicting Renly Baratheon’s war camp. But even if we forget the Bridge’s legacy on small screen, the blood-pumping thrill that one gets trying to cross it at about 30m above a chasm of rocks while trying to remain steady amidst gusts of wind, more than makes up for anything else!
The Dark Hedges: Oh, who can forget the Kings Road? From the Starks’ arrival at King’s Landing to Arya’s escape, this mysterious row of trees have witnessed it all! But this spooky area has an equally haunting lore attached to it which our guide will definitely fill you in on.
The tour also covers one of the best preserved Norman castles - Carrickfergus, as well as three other important locations from Game of Thrones - Dunluce Castle, which was used as the House of Greyjoy, Carnlough Village which formed the backdrop for Braavos in Season 6 and Larrybane which, too, was used to shoot Renly Baratheon’s war camp scenes.
Having sunk into the magic of this inimitable world of fantasy, we will head out to marvel at one of Mother Nature’s greatest wonders - the spectacular Giant’s Causeway. Feast your eyes on the astonishing polygonal rock formations caused by a volcanic eruption 60 million years ago. The place, however, borrows its name from a typically Irish legend claiming that the columns were sculpted by a giant named Finn McCool.
